Powis Castle

Powis Castle sits high above Welshpool and is one of Mid Wales’ most impressive historic landmarks. Originally built around 1200 as a medieval fortress by a Welsh prince, it was later transformed into a grand country house. Today it is cared for by the National Trust and welcomes visitors from across the UK and beyond.

Christ Church

The site and land for the churchyard was given by the Powis family. Christ Church stands on Maes Gwastad adjoining Powis Castle Park. It is often thought that Christ Church was built by the Earl of Powis as his own private chapel, but it was in fact paid for by public subscription and owned by The Church of Wales.

🎃👻 IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR! 👻🎃 Get ready for a spooktacular evening as Welshpool Town Council brings you our FREE Halloween Parade & Party! Saturday, 31st October 2026. Parade starts at 5.30pm. Welshpool Bus Station. Join us for a frightfully fun evening packed with competitions, a disco and plenty of Halloween fun for all the family! Refreshments and drinks will be available to purchase on the night. Raffle tickets will also be available, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs! Friday, 6th November 2026. Gates open at 5:30pm for a 7pm display. Entry is free, but donations would be gratefully received to go towards future events. Strictly no dogs and no vehicles.
