Y Lanfa is a cultural centre in the heart of Welshpool, overlooking the Montgomery Canal and bringing together Powysland Museum and Welshpool Library under one roof.
Powysland Museum explores the archaeology and social history of Montgomeryshire, with exhibits covering everything from local trades and railways to the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry and the internationally recognised Laura Ashley brand.
The museum’s archaeology gallery takes visitors on a journey through thousands of years of local history, from prehistoric settlements and Roman finds to the early medieval period, showcasing discoveries from across the region.
Alongside the museum, Welshpool Library provides a welcoming space for reading, learning and community activities. Together, Y Lanfa offers a fascinating insight into the heritage, culture and everyday life of Mid Wales.
