Rail Travel

The Railway Station in Welshpool is positioned at the edge of the town, just a 5 minute walk to the centre. There are no facilities on the station although there is a shelter and a ticket machine. There is a long walk along a ramp to access the platform. There are two small car parks, one either side of the line. The popular town of Shrewsbury can be reached in 20 minutes and the coastal town of Aberystwyth in just over 90 minutes. Join the Cambrian Line at Machynlleth and take the train along the wonderful Cardigan Bay, through the pretty seaside towns of Barmouth and Porthmadog, all the way to Pwllheli.

The train is operated by Transport for Wales and information can be obtained from Welshpool Tourist Information Centre. The Centre now offers a full service for Rail Tickets and Railcards. For information please ring the TIC on 01938 552043 for more information.
